Hojicha tea is an unusual form of green tea because it is not steamed like other green teas, but is carefully and carefully roasted over charcoal in special Hojicha roasters. This results in a fine roasted aroma with flavor nuances of nuts, caramel and malty-sweet aromas. The amber-colored tea also has an aromatic, nutty scent.

Preparing your Hojicha tea is very simple, but it is slightly different from preparing other types of green tea such as Sencha or Bancha.

For one liter of Hojicha you need about 20g of loose Hojicha tea leaves, so 4-6 teaspoons, depending on how intense you want the Hojicha tea to be.

In contrast to other green teas such as Sencha or Bancha, Hojicha tea is poured over with boiling water (100 degrees Celsius) without developing a bitter taste. This is due to the previous roasting of the tea leaves and the small amount of catechins and caffeine in Hojicha.

The Hojicha has a very short brewing time of only about 0.5 minutes. This is when the fine aromas of the Hojicha are best released and you get an intensely aromatic cup of roasted Japanese green tea.

This rarity consists of 100% stems and is therefore extremely rich in roasted aromas, but at the same time mild and slightly sweet
